Severe thunderstorms approaching the Adelaide area
The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 8:40 pm, severe
thunderstorms were detected on the weather radar approaching
Adelaide from the northwest. These thunderstorms are moving towards
the southeast. They are forecast to affect Adelaide City,
Elizabeth, Glenelg, Mount Barker, Salisbury, Gawler, Strathalbyn
and Victor Harbor by 9:10 pm and Mount Pleasant, Birdwood,
Gumeracha, Lobethal, Woodside and Palmer by 9:40 pm.
Damaging winds are likely.
Gusts to 100 km/h have been reported over Yorke Peninsula.
The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Secure or put away loose items around your property.
* Move cars under cover or away from trees.
* Keep clear of fallen power lines.
* Stay indoors, away from windows, while storms are nearby.
