FLOODING IS POSSiBLE IN THE BARKLY, CENTRAL DESERT, GEORGINA AND EYRE CREEK

During Sunday or Monday a tropical low (ex-Tropical Cyclone Kirrily) is expected to approach the Northern Territory from Queensland and track westwards across central parts of the NT during the week.

Isolated showers and thunderstorms producing daily rainfall less than 15mm is expected over the Barkly District in the short term. As the low approaches and moves across the Barkly District early in the week, daily falls of 20-70mm are expected, reaching in excess of 100mm near the centre of the low.

Significant river and stream rises are likely with heavy rainfall across the Flood Watch area during the next week.

Many roads, and possibly primary and secondary highways may be affected. Some communities and homesteads may become isolated. Check road conditions before travelling.
