Damaging winds about elevated peaks

Weather Situation: A low to the west of the State is driving strong upper winds which are impacting elevated parts of the State. The low is expected to move to the south east overnight, before moving away from the State during Thursday.
Damaging wind gusts about elevated peaks above 1000m. Mean wind speeds above 80 km/h with gusts around 120 km/h possible overnight, easing later during Thursday morning.

Locations which may be affected include Oatlands, New Norfolk, Bothwell, Tarraleah, Geeveston and Huonville.

The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Supervise children closely.
* Check that family and neighbours are aware of warnings.
* Manage pets and livestock.
* Secure outdoor items including furniture and play equipment.
* Be prepared in case of power outages and report any outages to TasNetworks on 132 004.
* Beware of damaged trees and power lines and take care when driving.
* Listen to the ABC radio or check www.ses.tas.gov.au for further advice.
