EMERGENCY WARNING - Bills Crossing Crowdy (Mid-Coast LGA)

An emergency warning is in place for a large bush fire burning in the Crowdy Bay National Park.

Current Situation

The fire is burning in the John River State Forest and is spreading quickly towards the Johns River area.

Firefighters are on scene working to protect properties.

Crowdy Head Road is closed.

Advice

If you are in the area of Johns River, take shelter as the fire approaches.

Shelter in a solid structure to protect yourself from the heat of the fire.

Check and follow your Bush Fire Survival Plan. If you do not have a plan, decide what you will do if the situation changes. Leaving early is your safest option.

Diamond Head camping area is closed.

Kylies Beach is currently closed.

Other Information

Evacuation Centres have been opened in Club Taree (121 Wingham Road, Taree) and Tuncurry Bowling Club (21 Parkes Street, Tuncurry). People are encouraged to register online at Register Find Reunite https://register.redcross.org.au before attending the evacuation centre.
