A bush fire is bush land approximately 15 kilometres east of Glen Innes, in the area of the Brother State Forest. The fire has burnt more than 11,000 hectares and is out of control.

Current Situation

The fire is currently burning within the Brother State Forest to the west of Newton Boyd, in the vicinity of Wytaliba.

There is increased fire activity in the Newton Boyd area.

Old Grafton Road is now open between the Gwydir Highway and Henry River Bridge at Newton Boyd. Stay up to date with Live Traffic.

Advice

Residents in the area of Newtown Boyd and Wytaliba should watch out for embers and take the advice from firefighters on the ground.

Monitor your property for spot fires. If a spot fire starts, do what you can to extinguish it.

Wytaliba primary school will be closed on Monday 16 September.
