Watch and Act - Wandsworth fire, Ben Lomand area (Armidale LGA)

A bush fire is burning in the area of Wandsworth, south-west of Glen Innes. The fire is more than 4,300 hectares and out of control.

Current Situation

The fire is burning east and north towards township of Ben Lomond.

The New England Highway is currently closed between Tenterfield and Glen Innes.

Advice

If you are in the area of Wandsworth and Ben Lomand, monitor conditions and watch out for spot fires. Spot fires may threaten your property ahead of the main fire front. Seek shelter if the fire impacts on your property.

Check and follow your Bush Fire Survival Plan. If you do not have a plan, decide what you will do if the situation changes.

Leaving early is your safest option if the path is clear.
