SLOW-MOVING, HEAVY SHOWERS AFFECTING SYDNEY AND THE CENTRAL COAST

Weather Situation:A low pressure trough has stalled off the Sydney coast and is expected to remain slow-moving in the region for the next several hours, bringing heavy shower activity to parts of Sydney and the Central Coast
HEAVY RAIN which may lead to FLASH FLOODING is possible for parts of Sydney and the Central Coast this morning, associated with shower activity in the region.
Rainfall rates in excess of 35 mm in 30 minutes are possible.

Locations which may be affected include Gosford, Sydney, Penrith, Parramatta, The Entrance and Woy Woy.
Sydney Airport recorded 30mm in the 30 minutes to 1am.

The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Don't drive, ride or walk through flood water.
* Keep clear of creeks and storm drains.
* If you are trapped by flash flooding, seek refuge in the highest available place and ring 000 if you need rescue.
* For emergency help in floods and storms, ring your local SES Unit on 132 500.
