Flood watch number: 1
A patchy cloud band over central NT will develop significantly and
extend into southern parts over the weekend. Widespread rainfall
amounts in the range of 25 to 50mm, with isolated heavier falls of
80mm, are expected to occur in the southern Barkly and Simpson
Districts. Most of the rainfall is expected to occur overnight
Saturday and into Sunday.
The forecast rainfall is likely to lead to stream rises throughout
the southern Barkly and Simpson Districts and may cause road
conditions to deterioriate. Some roads may become impassable and
cause communities to become inaccessible from Sunday into early
next week.

The Northern Territory Emergency Service advises that people
should:
- Stay away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and
waterways
- Avoid driving into water of unknown depth and current
- Stop children playing in or near floodwaters
- Create your own sandbags if there is flooding, by using
pillowcases and shopping bags filled with sand and place them
around doorways to protect your home
- Be careful of fallen power lines. They are dangerous and should
always be treated as live
