GUSTY STORMS OVER PARTS OF WESTERN AND SOUTHERN DISTRICTS
Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds over the
next several hours in the Simpson, Tanami and parts of the Gregory
and Lasseter districts. Locations which may be affected include
Alice Springs, Yuendumu, Lajamanu, Arltunga, Ti Tree, Kulgera and
Rabbit Flat.
Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds over the
next several hours in parts of the Daly district. Locations which
may be affected include Wadeye and Nauiyu.
A 72 km/h wind gust was observed at Alice Springs at 17:00
ACST.
A 96 km/h wind gust was observed at Yulara at 15:06 ACST.
The Northern Territory Emergency Service advises that people
should:
* secure loose outside objects
* ensure pets and animals are safe
* avoid remaining in the open when storms threaten
* pull over if it is raining heavily and you cannot see, park with
your hazard lights on until the rain clears
* avoid driving into water of unknown depth and current
* for emergency help in floods, storms and cyclones, contact the
