Severe fire conditions are forecast for the Darling Downs and Granite Belt district for Thursday. A vigorous cold front is expected to move eastwards through southern Queensland, reaching the southeast on Thursday afternoon, with hot conditions ahead and cooler, drier conditions behind. Fresh to strong, gusty winds are expected around the front, with northwesterly winds ahead and southwesterly winds behind. There is a slight chance of thunderstorms with the passage of the front, particularly around the New South Wales border, although little to no rainfall is expected.
