Weather Situation:
An active line of severe thunderstorms extends across the central
northwest parts of the state.
Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds in the
warning area over the
next several hours.
Locations which may be affected include Kamilaroi Station,
Augustus Downs Station, Richmond, Hughenden, Stamford, Winton,
Longreach, Evesham Station and areas to the southwest of
Windorah.
Cloncurry recorded a wind gust of 98 km/hr at 4.10pm
Trepell recorded a wind gust of 109 km/h at 2.40pm
Camooweal recorded a wind gust of 75 km/h as 2.38pm
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people
should:
* Move your car under cover or away from trees.
* Secure loose outdoor items.
* Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees.
* Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm.
* Beware of fallen trees and powerlines.
* For emergency assistance contact the SES on 132 500.
