Heavy and slow-moving thunderstorms across the southeast.
Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds and
heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding in the warning area
over the next several hours. Locations which may be affected
include Brisbane, Kingaroy, Caboolture, Ipswich, Cleveland,
Cherbourg, Jimboomba, Kilcoy, Mount Tamborine, Nambour, Nanango and
Redcliffe.
Severe thunderstorms are no longer occurring in the Darling Downs
and Granite Belt district and the warning for this district is
CANCELLED.
53mm was recorded at Palen Creek in 1 hour to 3:15pm
47mm was recorded at Mulgowie in 30 minutes to 3:35pm
67mm was recorded at Foxley in 1 hour to 4:20pm
60mm was recorded at Harpers Crossing (SW of Boonah) in 1 hour to
4:25pm
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people
should:
* Move your car under cover or away from trees.
* Secure loose outdoor items.
* Never drive, walk or ride through flood waters. If it's flooded,
forget it.
* Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees.
* Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm.
* Beware of fallen trees and powerlines.
