Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding and large hailstones over the next several hours in parts of the Central Highlands and Coalfields, Central West and Capricornia districts. Locations which may be affected include Emerald, Clermont, Blackwater, Capella, Dysart and Elgin Downs.

Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding over the next several hours in parts of the Central West district. Locations which may be affected include Isisford, Tambo, Blackall and Stonehenge.

Severe thunderstorms are no longer occurring in the Channel Country and Maranoa and Warrego districts and the warning for these districts is CANCELLED.

52mm of rainfall was recorded in the 30 minutes to 6.45pm at Emerald Alert B.

54mm of rainfall was recorded in 30 minutes and 71mm in an hour to 6.30pm at Gregory Highway Alert, northwest of Emerald.

44mm of rainfall was recorded in the 30 minutes to 4.55pm at Upper Retreat, north of Bogantungan.

51mm of rainfall was recorded in the 30 minutes to 3.40pm at Mid Kroombit, east of Bileola.

3cm hail was reported at Nanango earlier this afternoon.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should:
* Move your car under cover or away from trees.
* Secure loose outdoor items.
* Never drive, walk or ride through flood waters. If it's flooded, forget it.
* Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees.
* Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm.
* Beware of fallen trees and powerlines.
