A vigorous southerly flow will develop about elevated terrain and exposed islands overnight Sunday.

Weather Situation: A firm ridge and strengthening pressure gradient will result in a strong southerly winds and a risk of damaging wind gusts during Sunday night and Monday morning.

Damaging winds, with peak gusts of around 90km/h, are expected to develop late on early Sunday afternoon or early in the evening. Easing from Monday morning.

Locations which may be affected include Moreton Island, North Stradbroke Island and Springbrook.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should:
* Move your car under cover or away from trees.
* Secure loose outdoor items.
* Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees.
* Beware of fallen trees and powerlines.
