For people in the Lower Eyre Peninsula and parts of the West Coast, Eastern Eyre Peninsula, Yorke Peninsula and Kangaroo Island districts.

A deep low pressure system situated south of Eyre Peninsula will track east to be near Mount Gambier by late this evening.

A band of strong to potentially damaging northwest to westerly winds is wrapping around the north side of the low with winds averaging 50 to 65 km/h and gusts of 90 to 100 km/h possible over parts of the warning area.

Damaging winds are most likely with showers and thunderstorms, about exposed coastal areas and about elevated terrain.

Locations which may be affected include Port Lincoln, Wudinna, Elliston, Cleve, Cummins, Tumby Bay, Stenhouse Bay and Cape Borda.

The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Move vehicles under cover or away from trees;
* Secure or put away loose items around your property.
* Stay indoors, away from windows, while conditions are severe.
