Large Hail in thunderstorms tracking towards the Coolangatta

Weather Situation:

The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 12:40 am, severe thunderstorms were detected on the weather radar near Numinbah Valley and Canungra. These thunderstorms are moving towards the east. They are forecast to affect Miami, Mudgeeraba and Nerang by 1:10 am and Coolangatta and waters off Tweed Heads by 1:40 am.

Large hailstones are likely.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should:
* Move your car under cover.
* Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees.
* Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm.
* Beware of fallen trees and powerlines.
