Lockyer Valley, Brisbane City and Moreton Bay Council Areas.

The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 4:00 pm, severe
thunderstorms were detected on the weather radar near Boonah,
Laidley, Esk, the area southwest of Esk, the area west of Esk and
the area northwest of Esk. These thunderstorms are moving towards
the east to southeast. They are forecast to affect Mount Barney,
Laravale, Moogerah, Mulgowie and southern Lake Wivenhoe by 4:30 pm
and Upper Brookfield, Fernvale, Mount Nebo, Highvale, the D'Aguilar
Ranges and northern Lake Wivenhoe by 5:00 pm.
Damaging winds and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding
are likely.
53mm was recorded at Palen Creek in 1 hour to 3:15pm
47mm was recorded at Mulgowie in 30 minutes to 3:35pm
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people
should:
* Move your car under cover or away from trees.
* Secure loose outdoor items.
* Never drive, walk or ride through flood waters. If it's flooded,
forget it.
* Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees.
* Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm.
* Beware of fallen trees and powerlines.
