Initial Flood Watch for Huon River

Flood Watch Number: 1

Minor flooding is possible along the Huon River during Tuesday. Current river levels are high from recent rainfall and additional rainfall will result in renewed rises.

A cold front will cross Tasmania overnight Monday into Tuesday.

In the 24 hours to 9am Monday, widespread rainfall totals of 5-30 mm were observed, with isolated high totals up to 51 mm at Mt Bobs.

Rainfall totals of 25-30 mm are forecast for western parts of the Huon catchment overnight Monday into Tuesday.

Renewed river rises are expected in response to rainfall overnight. Minor flooding is possible along the Huon river from Tuesday morning. Catchment specific warnings will be issued if and when required.

Strong and dangerous flows will be a hazard over the next couple of days.
