Weather Situation:
A low over Tasmania is bringing heavy rain to the east and is expected to move to the southeast during the day.

HEAVY RAINFALL which may lead to FLASH FLOODING is possible till the late morning for the northeast, and during the morning to early afternoon for the east coast. 6 hourly totals of 40 to 60mm with localised falls in excess of 70mm are expected. Heavy rain is expected to start easing after midday.

An Initial Minor Flood Warning is current for the South Esk and a Flood Watch for North East and East Coast catchments.

Locations which may be affected include Scottsdale, Whitemark, St Helens, Swansea, Bicheno and Orford.

In the 24 hours to 9am this morning, falls of 96mm at Gray, 58mm at Pyengana, 49mm at Low Head and 48mm at St Helens.

The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Supervise children closely.
* Check that family and neighbours are aware of warnings.
* Manage pets and livestock.
* Clear drains and gutters on premises prior to severe weather arriving.
* Do not walk, ride or drive through flood waters.
* Be prepared in case of power outages and report any outages to TasNetworks on 132 004.
* Listen to the ABC radio or check for further advice.
