Flood Watch Number: 3

Minor flooding may develop across catchments in the flood watch area from Friday.

A low pressure trough will move over Victoria during Thursday, with stream showers to follow during Friday.

In the 24 hours to 9am Thursday, widespread rainfall totals of 20-40 mm were recorded.

Catchments are now wet following recent rain.

Rainfall totals of 5-15 mm are expected for the remainder of Thursday and 25-50 mm on Friday.

River rises are occurring in some catchments in response to recent rainfall. Minor flooding is possible from Friday with forecast rainfall.

Catchments likely to be affected include:

Latrobe River
Traralgon Creek
Bunyip River and Dandenong Creek
Yarra River to Coldstream

Flood warnings are current for the following catchments: Ovens and King, Kiewa, Seven and Castle Creeks, Upper Murray, Goulburn, Mitchell, Macalister

The Bureau of Meteorology is continuing to monitor the situation and will issue catchment specific warnings as required.

Never walk, ride or drive through floodwater, Never allow children to play in floodwater, Stay away from waterways and stormwater drains during and after heavy rain, Keep well clear of fallen power lines Be aware that in fire affected areas, rainfall run-off into waterways may contain debris such as ash, soil, trees and rocks, and heavy rainfall increases the potential for landslides and debris across roads.
