Becoming very windy over Alpine areas Friday

The first in a series of cold fronts approaching from the west will cross the State tomorrow with another to follow on Saturday.
DAMAGING WINDS, averaging 70 km/h with peak gusts of around 100 km/h are expected to develop over Alpine areas (above 1200 metres) of eastern Victoria Friday afternoon and are likely to persist overnight and into Saturday.

Locations which may be affected include Mt Baw Baw, Falls Creek, Mt Hotham, Mt Buller and Omeo.

The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Move vehicles under cover or away from trees;
* Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony;
* Keep clear of fallen power lines;
