Strengthening northerly winds

Weather Situation:
A cold front will develop south of the Bight tonight and approach western Victoria late on Saturday.

DAMAGING WINDS, averaging 60 to 70 km/h with peak gusts of 90 to 100 km/h are forecast to develop across elevated parts of western and central Victoria as well as along the Otway coast late on Saturday.

DAMAGING WINDS are expected to extend to elevated parts of eastern Victoria as well as South Gippsland early on Sunday.

Locations which may be affected include Ararat, Apollo Bay, Kyneton, Ballarat, Daylesford and Bacchus Marsh.

The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Move vehicles under cover or away from trees;
* Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony;
* Keep clear of fallen power lines;
