Strengthening northerly winds

Weather Situation:
A cold front will approach western Victoria late Saturday and will pass across the State early Sunday.

DAMAGING WINDS, averaging 60 to 70 km/h with peak gusts of 90 to 100 km/h are forecast to develop across elevated parts of western and central Victoria as well as along the Otway coast late on Saturday, then will extend over parts of eastern Victoria during the early hours of Sunday morning.

Winds will ease from the west during Sunday morning following the passage of the cold front.

Locations which may be affected include Stawell, Kyneton, Ballarat, Wonthaggi, Bacchus Marsh and Falls Creek.

The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Move vehicles under cover or away from trees;
* Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony;
* Keep clear of fallen power lines;
