Strong northerly winds redeveloping on Monday.

Weather Situation: Northerly winds will strengthen on Monday afternoon and evening ahead of a cold front.

DAMAGING NORTHERLY WINDS averaging 60 to 70 km/h with peak gusts of 90 to 100 km/h are likely to develop over western Victoria on Monday afternoon, then extend to central districts on Monday night.

Elevated areas (above 400 metres) are most at risk. DAMAGING WINDS are expected to extend to Alpine parts of eastern Victoria overnight Monday and early Tuesday morning, while easing over the west.

Locations which may be affected include Warrnambool, Portland, Kyneton, Ballarat, Wonthaggi and Bacchus Marsh.

The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Move vehicles under cover or away from trees;
* Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony;
* Keep clear of fallen power lines;
