Strong and squally winds near the coast.

Weather Situation:
A cold front embedded in a southwesterly airflow will pass across Tasmania and Bass Strait tonight, with another to follow Wednesday night.

DAMAGING WINDS, averaging 50 to 70 km/h with peak gusts of 90 to 100 km/h, are expected about exposed parts of the Gippsland coast, Strzelecki and Otway Ranges from Tuesday afternoon, extending into the East Gippsland coast and far eastern Alpine areas (above 1500m) overnight Tuesday.

Whilst there will be some easing in wind strengths along parts of the coast Wednesday morning and early afternoon, there will be an increase again Wednesday evening.

Locations which may be affected include Apollo Bay, Wonthaggi, Tidal River, Yarram and Orbost.

The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Move vehicles under cover or away from trees;
* Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony;
* Keep clear of fallen power lines;
