For people in parts of Central and North Central Forecast Districts.

Issued at 10:29 am Friday, 10 May 2019.

A near stationary cold front lying over central parts is producing significant rainfall and isolated thunderstorms.

HEAVY RAINFALL which may lead to FLASH FLOODING is possible over coastal parts of far West Gippsland and Central districts, and western parts of the Central and North Central District this morning and afternoon. Rain is expected to ease later this afternoon. Rainfall totals of 30-50mm have been recorded this morning in this area, with a further 30-40mm possible. Thunderstorms may produce rapid falls of 30-60mm in an hour.

Locations which may be affected include Maryborough, Ballarat, Daylesford, Geelong, Wonthaggi and Rosebud.

The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Don't walk, ride or drive through flood water;
* Keep clear of creeks and storm drains;
* Be aware that in fire affected areas, rainfall run-off into waterways may contain debris such as ash, soil, trees and rocks;
* Be alert that in areas recently affected by fires, heavy rainfall increases the potential for landslides and debris across roads;
