Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) advises there is a vegetation fire in Mareeba.
You need to keep up to date and decide what actions you will take if the situation changes. Nearby residents should be ready to follow their bushfire survival plan.
Currently as at 3.30pm Wednesday 21 October, a bushfire is burning on the western side of the Baron River between the Baron River and Langton Avenue. The fire is burning in a northerly direction towards Herberton Street and Anzac Avenue and in a southerly direction near the Riverside Caravan Park.
Multiple QFES crews are on scene working to contain the fire.
People in the area will be affected by smoke, which will reduce visibility and air quality.
Properties are not under direct threat at this time. Call Triple Zero (000) immediately if you believe you or your property is under threat.
