Heavy showers for South Western WA
Wednesday 28th April 2021
A cold front will approach and cross the Western Australian coast late Thursday afternoon and evening, with a band of gusty showers and isolated thunderstorms expected with its passage.
This frontal system will bring the threat of locally damaging wind gusts to 90km/h for exposed coastal locations and elevated terrain from Perth - Augusta - Walpole in the South West District, particularly with any thunderstorm activity during the late afternoon hours.
Moderate falls will be possible late Thursday and into Friday morning, with 15-35mm expected for coastal and adjacent inland regions of South Western WA, with isolated higher falls possible.
In the wake of this front on Friday, a gusty southwesterly flow will develop, with further scattered showers likely, with the potential for another 5-15mm.
Conditions will gradually ease late Friday into Saturday, as an area of high pressure builds over Southern WA.
