30 September 2025
WaterNSW is informing customers and community that the Irrigation season has started with strong orders above system demands. WaterNSW are observing customer beginning to take water without a complying water order and are reminding customers of their obligations under their work approvals.
Releases from Blowering Dam are likely to be higher than recent conditions and Burrinjuck Dam releases will be utilised to top up increases in demand. WaterNSW continue to monitor rainfall and inflows into Burrinjuck Dam as translucent/transparent release requirements may be implemented. At present Blowering Dam is releasing 7,300 ML/day and Burrinjuck Dam releases are 500 ML/day.
Upper Murrumbidgee - River flows along the upper Murrumbidgee River is expected to be strong over the next few months with most weir pools building to be at full supply to allow for customer demand.
Lower Murrumbidgee- Customer orders are expected to be strong over the coming months due to drier conditions. Redbank Weir will remain at full supply to deliver demands through the Glen Dee regulator, Hay and Maude weirs will be managed to supply system demands in the lower Murrumbidgee and are planned to be at manageable heights to capture any surplus or order rejections.
Yanco Creek- Flows into Yanco Creek have increased to meet customer demands. WaterNSW are currently experiencing low flows in the Billabong creek section, to increase flows and customer access releases from the DC800 and Finley escape have been activated to meet ordered demands.
WaterNSW would like to remind all customers to ensure they have submitted complying water orders for sustained management of the system throughout the irrigation season.
WaterNSW encourages customers to be vigilant in following their license requirements including lead time ordering of their take. Issues with compliance may be subject to Departmental reporting.
WaterNSW is advising customers and landholders to monitor warnings and river levels closely and to make necessary arrangements to ensure pump infrastructure and livestock are not impacted by changes to water levels and be aware of in-water hazards when using the river.
