Issued at 12:59 pm AEDT on Saturday 28 February 2026 Flood Watch
Number: 6
FLOODING OCCURRING IN PARTS OF FAR WESTERN NEW SOUTH WALES WITH
ADDITIONAL AREAS OF FLOODING POSSIBLE OVER THE COMING DAYS
A slow-moving low pressure system over central Australia is
extending a trough across western and southern New South Wales.
From Sunday through to Tuesday, there is the potential for renewed
widespread rainfall across far western NSW, which then shifts to
the southern inland on Tuesday, possibly bringing further heavy
falls.
Catchments are getting wet with heavy rainfall during the last few
days across the Flood Watch Area, and are expected to respond to
further rainfall.
Widespread moderate to locally heavy rainfall is possible across
the coming days. Isolated river and creek level rises, localised
flooding, and overland inundation are occurring across parts of the
Flood Watch Area. Further areas of flooding are possible over the
coming days. These conditions are likely to affect road access in
many areas in the coming days. Some communities may become
isolated. Check road conditions before travelling.
At this stage, river levels along the Barwon-Darling River are
expected to remain below minor flood levels, but localised flooding
is possible.
Flood Classes (minor, moderate, major) are only defined for
catchments where the Bureau provides a flood warning service.
Catchments likely to be affected include:
Paroo River (NSW) (Minor flood warning current for Paroo
(NSW)
River)
Darling River (Localised)
Mount Gunderbooka to Wokabity Lake
Bynguano-Lower Barrier Ranges
