MINOR TO MODERATE FLOODING POSSIBLE ALONG THE UPPER MURRAY, MITTA MITTA AND SNOWY RIVERS FROM WEDNESDAY

A cold front is forecast to cross Victoria during Tuesday, with a low pressure system then developing over eastern Victoria on Wednesday. The low is then forecast to move over the Tasman Sea on Thursday.

Catchments in the Flood Watch area are moderately dry.

Showers developing into rain is forecast for Tuesday across eastern Victoria with heavy falls and isolated thunderstorms forecast over the ranges. During Wednesday moderate to heavy rainfall is forecast over the Flood Watch area with rainfall easing during Thursday.

The weather system is likely to cause flooding in the catchments listed from Wednesday. Flood classifications (minor, moderate, major) are only defined for catchments where the Bureau provides a flood warning service.

Catchments likely to be affected include:

Snowy Riverminor to moderate flooding
Upper Murray and Mitta Mitta Riversminor to moderate flooding

Flood Warnings will be issued if Minor Flood Level is expected to be exceeded at key sites along the main rivers for which the Bureau of Meteorology provides a flood warning service.

Severe Weather Warnings will be issued or updated if very heavy rain is forecast or observed.
