Flood Watch Number: 3

MINOR FLOODING POSSIBLE ALONG THE UPPER MURRAY, MITTA MITTA AND SNOWY RIVERS, AND MURRAY RIVER TO TOCUMWAL

A significant cold front will cross Victoria and New South Wales from Wednesday through to early Thursday, with a low pressure system forming within the front on Wednesday before quickly heading off to the far southeast by Thursday morning, resulting in wet and windy conditions in many parts. This system is predicted to bring widespread rainfall ahead of more settled conditions developing at the end of the week.

Catchments in the Flood Watch area are moderately dry.

Showers or rain and thunderstorms are forecast across the south and west, extending to the east through the day while clearing from the far west. Possible heavy falls are forecast in parts of Riverina, South West Slopes and far southern ranges. Severe thunderstorms are possible across the ranges, western slopes and inland plains, with a risk of localised heavy falls over the Flood Watch area with rainfall easing during Thursday.

The weather system may cause flooding in the catchments listed from Wednesday.

Catchments likely to be affected include:
Murray River to Tocumwal
minor flooding

Snowy River
minor flooding

Upper Murray and Mitta Mitta Rivers
minor flooding
