For people in parts of Illawarra, South Coast, Central Tablelands,
Southern Tablelands, South West Slopes, Snowy Mountains and
Australian Capital Territory Forecast Districts.

Damaging winds continuing about the central and southern ranges,
with possible blizzards in Alpine areas.
Weather Situation: A complex low pressure system is moving east
through the Bass Strait, bringing strong westerly flow over
elevated parts of the Great Dividing Range today through to early
Friday.
For SOUTHERN and CENTRAL RANGES from Katoomba and Braidwood:
Strong winds averaging 50 to 60 km/h with DAMAGING WIND GUSTS of
around 90 km/h are possible today.
For western SNOWY MOUNTAINS below 1900 metres and the ACT ranges:
Strong winds averaging 50 to 60 km/h with DAMAGING WIND GUSTS
around 90 km/h are possible today.
For ALPINE PEAKS in the SNOWY MOUNTAINS above 1900 metres:
DAMAGING WINDS averaging 80 to 90 km/h with peak gusts of around
110 km/h are possible today. BLIZZARD conditions are possible above
1400 metres. The NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service recommends
that back country travel be postponed until conditions
improve.
Locations which may be affected include Goulburn, Katoomba,
Braidwood, Ebor, Nowendoc, Barrington Tops, Thredbo Tops and Mt
Ginini.

The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Park your car under secure cover and away from trees, powerlines
and drains.
* Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and
balcony.
* Keep at least 8 metres away from fallen power lines or objects
that may be energised, such as fences.
* Report fallen power lines to either Ausgrid (131 388), Endeavour
Energy (131 003), Essential Energy (132 080) or Evoenergy (131 093)
as shown on your power bill.
