Heavy rainfall occurring in showers this afternoon and evening.

Weather Situation: A slow moving trough about the northern Illawarra is bringing persistent heavy showers to the area. This trough is expected to slowly move north and may stall around southern parts of Sydney.

HEAVY RAINFALL which may lead to FLASH FLOODING is occurring in the northern Illawarra and southern parts of the Sydney Metropolitan area. Six-hourly rainfall totals between 60 and 90 mm are possible.

Heavy rainfall is expected to ease below warning thresholds this evening about the Illawarra. It is possible that heavy falls may occur around additional parts of the Sydney Metropolitan area later this evening and overnight if the trough moves further north and stalls.

Locations which may be affected include Campbelltown and Bulli.

The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Don't drive, ride or walk through flood water.
* Keep clear of creeks and storm drains.
* If you are trapped by flash flooding, seek refuge in the highest available place and ring 000 if you need rescue.
