Flood Watch Number: 4
FLOODING POSSIBLE IN NORTH WESTERN RIVERS, BONAPARTE AND WESTERN
PARTS OF CARPENTARIA
A tropical low within the monsoon trough lies over the
southwestern Top End and will drift slowly eastwards and deepen
during the next few days, producing heavy rainfall over the Flood
Watch area.
Catchments in the Flood Watch area are wetting up from recent
rainfall, with further areas of very heavy rainfall forecast over
the next few days. Port Keats Airport has recorded a 2-day rainfall
total of 506 mm to 9am Monday.
Heavy rainfall and thunderstorms are forecast for the next few
days within the Flood Watch area. Widespread heavy rainfall is
likely to increase as the monsoon low strengthens. Widespread daily
rainfall totals of 100 - 140 mm on Monday and 120 - 160 mm on
Tuesday are likely, with isolated heavier daily rainfall totals
exceeding 250 mm possible.
Significant river, creek, and stream rises are likely with heavy
rainfall, with possible minor to major flooding across the Flood
Watch area during this week.

affected. Some communities and homesteads may become isolated.
