Central Highlands and Coalfields and Central West Forecast
Districts.

Areas of heavy rainfall with slow-moving thunderstorms
Weather Situation: A very moist tropical airmass remains in place
across much of the state. Surface troughs around the central west
and highlands, extending east to the Wide Bay will combine with
this warm and humid environment to produce scattered thunderstorm
activity with heavy rainfall.
Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce heavy rainfall that may
lead to flash flooding in the warning area over the next several
hours. Locations which may be affected include Emerald, Clermont,
Pentland, Elgin Downs, Aberfoyle and Alpha.
60 mm was recorded at Kulumur Range in the 1 hour to 10:00
pm
88 mm was recorded at Upper Amby Creek in the 3 hours to 7:00
pm.
67 mm was recorded at Barcaldine Weir in the 2 hours to 7:00
pm.
83 mm was recorded at Waddy Brae in the 6 hours to 4:52 pm.
Emergency services advise people to:
* Park your car undercover away from trees.
* Close doors and windows.
* Keep asthma medications close by. Storms and wind can trigger
asthma attacks.
* Charge mobile phones and power banks in case the power goes
out.
* Put your pets somewhere safe and make sure they can be
identified in case they get lost.
* Do not drive now unless you have to because conditions are
dangerous.
* Tell friends, family and neighbours in the area.
* Go inside a strong building now. Stay inside until the storm has
passed.
