FLOODING POSSIBLE FOR PARTS OF THE NORTH WEST AND NORTH EAST PASTORAL DISTRICTS FROM TUESDAY
A ridge of high pressure will persist about the northern border area through the weekend then will extend southwards early next week before it moves over the eastern states. An upper system will bring areas of rainfall to the north early to mid next week.
Catchments remain dry ahead of the expected rainfall.
This widespread, unseasonal rainfall across the North West and North East Pastoral Districts is likely to begin from Monday in north western South Australia. From Tuesday this is likely to intensify and start to move more eastwards.
Heavy rainfall across the Flood Watch area may cause areas of ponding and overland flow, along with rises in local creeks and overbank flooding. Roads, travel and transport may be impacted, and communities may be cut off.
Catchments likely to be affected include:
Simpson Desert
Lake Eyre
Warburton River
Finke River and Stephenson Creek
