LOCALLY DESTRUCTIVE WINDS IN THE NORTHEAST THIS EVENING.

Weather Situation: A surface trough is triggering severe thunderstorms with locally DESTRUCTIVE WINDS in the northeast of the state this afternoon and evening.

Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds over the next several hours in parts of the North East Pastoral district. Locations which may be affected include Moomba, Innamincka, Mungeranie on the Birdsville Track and the Strzelecki Track south of Moomba.

Severe thunderstorms are no longer occurring in the Flinders district and the warning for this district is CANCELLED.

A 137 km/h wind gust was recorded at Moomba at 6:50 pm.

A 91 km/h wind gust was recorded at Leigh Creek at 4:05 pm.

The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Secure or put away loose items around your property.
* Move cars under cover or away from trees.
* Keep clear of fallen power lines.
* Stay indoors, away from windows, while storms are nearby.
