Severe thunderstorms with damaging winds and large hail have developed in the far north.

Weather Situation: A trough located in the north of the state coincides with a warn and unstable environment, which has resulted in the development of severe thunderstorms this afternoon. Severe thunderstorms are moving to the east and southeast and are likely to persist throughout the afternoon.

Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds and large hailstones in the warning area over the next several hours. Locations which may be affected include Oodnadatta.

The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Secure or put away loose items around your property.
* Move cars under cover or away from trees.
* Keep clear of fallen power lines.
* Stay indoors, away from windows, while storms are nearby.
