HEAVY, LOCALLY INTENSE RAINFALL THROUGH MUCH OF SOUTH AUSTRALIA,
BECOMING MORE LIKELY ABOUT CENTRAL AND EASTERN PARTS INCLUDING
ADELAIDE ON SUNDAY
Weather Situation: A low pressure system located over the far
southern Northern Territory is expected to move slowly southwards
into far northern South Australia this evening. An extremely humid
tropical airmass is wrapping around the southern flank of this low,
extending into central and southern parts of the state. A trough
over southern SA will interact with the tropical airmass into
Sunday, increasing the risk of heavy, locally intense falls.
HEAVY RAINFALL which may lead to FLASH FLOODING is likely about
northern and western parts of the state today, however is possible
about central and southeastern parts including Adelaide. The risk
of HEAVY RAINFALL is expected to increase about central and eastern
parts including Adelaide on Sunday. Six hourly rainfall totals
between 30 and 50 mm are possible today, increasing to 40 to 60 mm
about central and southeastern parts on Sunday.
Locally INTENSE RAINFALL which may lead to DANGEROUS AND
LIFE-THREATENING FLASH FLOODING is likely about northern and
western parts today, however is possible in thunderstorms
elsewhere. The risk will broaden to the Murraylands and Riverland
districts tonight, and more broadly about central and southeastern
parts including Adelaide on Sunday. Six-hourly rainfall totals
between 40 to 60 mm are possible today, increasing to 60 to 100 mm
on Sunday.
