Severe thunderstorms with heavy rainfall continue inland of the Sunshine Coast.

The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 7:50 pm, a severe thunderstorm likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding was detected near Montville and Palmwoods. This thunderstorm is slow moving. It is forecast to affect Nambour and Mapleton by 8:50 pm.

61.0 mm was recorded in 1 hour to 5:50 pm at Wacol.

48.0 mm was recorded in 30 minutes to 5:18 pm at Moggill.

59.0 mm was recorded in 30 minutes to 3:44 pm at Mt Petersen.

69.0 mm was recorded in 1 hour to 3:29 pm at Boonah

Emergency services advise people to:
* Park your car undercover away from trees.
* Close doors and windows.
* Keep asthma medications close by. Storms and wind can trigger asthma attacks.
* Charge mobile phones and power banks in case the power goes out.
* Put your pets somewhere safe and make sure they can be identified in case they get lost.
* Do not drive now unless you have to because conditions are dangerous.
* Tell friends, family and neighbours in the area.
* Go inside a strong building now. Stay inside until the storm has passed.
