Bushfire Watch and Act - Overland Track - Windermere, Pine Forest
Moor and surrounds - Monitor conditions as they are changing
This is a Bushfire Watch and Act message for Windermere, Pine
Forest Moor and surrounds.
There is an uncontrollable bushfire at Canning Peak. That is not
contained.
The fire is travelling towards Overland Track.
Embers, smoke, and ash may fall on Windermere, Pine Forest Moor
and surrounds and threaten you before the main fire arrives.
Tasmania Fire Service, Tasmania Parks and Wildlife Service and
Sustainable Timber Tasmania is attending. Conditions are expected
to be changeable.
What to do:
We advise walkers to follow the instructions given by track
rangers. Depending on the fire situation and location of the
walkers, we may instruct walkers to head North back to Cradle
Mountain or head South of Pelion Hut.
