Initial Flood Watch for parts of the North, North West, West and South catchments

RIVER LEVEL RISES AND AREAS OF MINOR FLOODING MAY DEVELOP FROM LATE FRIDAY

A cold front will cross Tasmania on Friday, with a ridge to move over the state during Saturday morning. Another cold front is then expected to cross Tasmania during Sunday.

Catchments in the flood watch area are wet.

Showers are expected to continue for the remainder of Thursday and areas of rain will develop from early Friday morning before easing in the afternoon.

On Friday rainfall totals of 20 - 40mm are forecast with isolated falls up to 60mm possible. Heaviest falls are likely about the west, north and Central Plateau.

Further rainfall is forecast for the West across the weekend with totals of 20-30mm possible on Sunday.

River level rises are likely and minor flooding may develop across the flood watch area from late Friday.

Minor flood warnings are current for the Mersey, Meander, North Esk, South Esk, Macquarie and Derwent catchments.

Forth River
Northwest and Central Coastal Rivers
Arthur River
Nelson Bay Coastal Rivers
Pieman River
King-Henty Rivers
Huon River
