Damaging wind gusts possible over parts of Tasmania today and Wednesday morning.

Weather Situation: A strong cold front will move southeastwards across Tasmania today. Following this feature, a deepening low pressure system over the eastern Great Australian Bight will pass just to the south of the Tasmania on Tuesday evening.
Northwesterly winds with DAMAGING WIND GUSTS of around 100 km/h are possible over western, central and northeastern areas of the state. These conditions should spread into the southeast of the state, including Hobart this evening and early Wednesday morning.
Wind are forecast to ease below severe thresholds Wednesday morning.

Locations which may be affected include Swansea, Strahan, New Norfolk, Hobart, Geeveston and Dover.

The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Supervise children closely.
* Check that family and neighbours are aware of warnings.
* Manage pets and livestock.
* Secure outdoor items including furniture and play equipment.
* Be prepared in case of power outages and report any outages to TasNetworks on 132 004.
* Beware of damaged trees and power lines and take care when driving.
* Listen to the ABC radio or check www.ses.tas.gov.au for further advice.
