Damaging winds possible over northwestern Tasmania this morning.

Weather Situation: As a cold front approaches the state from the west, north to northeasterly winds will increase over the Furneaux Island and northwestern parts of the state this morning. Winds will shift west to northwesterly during the afternoon and ease slightly, but remain gusty throughout.

DAMAGING NORTHEASTERLY WINDS averaging 60 to 70 km/k with peak gusts of around 90 km/h are possible over parts of the West Coast, coastal parts of the North West Coast, and the western parts of the Furneaux Islands from this morning.

Damaging wind gusts are forecast to ease below warning thresholds during the afternoon.

Locations which may be affected include Whitemark, Strahan, Queenstown, Zeehan and Rosebery.

The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Supervise children closely.
* Check that family and neighbours are aware of warnings.
* Manage pets and livestock.
* Secure outdoor items including furniture and play equipment.
* Be prepared in case of power outages and report any outages to TasNetworks on 132 004.
* Beware of damaged trees and power lines and take care when driving.
