Heavy rainfall developing across the north early on Tuesday morning.

Weather Situation: A low pressure system is crossing the state Monday night. A thick cloud band moving south over Tasmania ahead of a strong upper trough will lead to a risk of heavy rainfall about the north of the state early Tuesday morning.

HEAVY RAINFALL which may lead to FLASH FLOODING is forecast for the Central North district and parts of the Midlands, North West Coast and Western districts early Tuesday morning. Six-hourly rainfall totals between 30 to 50 mm are likely, with isolated falls to 60 mm possible.

Heavy rainfall is forecast to ease below warning thresholds by late Tuesday morning.
Locations which may be affected include Smithton, Launceston, George Town and Longford.

The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Supervise children closely.
* Check that family and neighbours are aware of warnings.
* Manage pets and livestock.
* Clear drains and gutters on premises prior to severe weather arriving.
* Do not walk, ride or drive through flood waters.
* Be prepared in case of power outages and report any outages to TasNetworks on 132 004.
