Bushfire Emergency Warning
LEAVE NOW - YABBERUP and GLEN MERVYN
A Bushfire Emergency Warning is in place for people in an area
bounded by Woodland Rise to the north, Donnybrook-Boyup Brook Road
to the south, Nioka Drive to the east and Austin Road to the west
in parts of YABBERUP and GLEN MERVYN in the SHIRE OF
DONNYBROOK-BALINGUP.
WHAT TO DO
If the way is clear, leave now for a safer place. This may be with
family or friends away from the area.
People in Nioka Drive should leave in a southerly direction
towards Donnybrook-Boyup Brook Road.
Do not wait and see, leaving at the last minute could put your
life in danger.
Take your emergency kit with you.
If you become stuck in your car, park away from bushes, cover
yourself with a woollen blanket, get onto the floor as the windows
may break from the intense heat.
Close all doors and windows and turn off evaporative air
conditioners but keep water running through the system if
possible.
If you cannot leave, you need to get ready to shelter in your
home.
You must shelter before the fire arrives, as the extreme heat will
kill you before the flames reach you.
Go to a room in your home where you can shelter from the
approaching fire.
The room should have running water, such as a kitchen or laundry,
and have a clear exit so you can easily escape.
If you are not at home, it is too dangerous to return.
