Bushfire Watch and Act
AVOID THE AREA - HAMELIN POOL, COBURN and MEADOW

A Bushfire Watch and Act is in place for people travelling on North West Coastal Highway in an area south of Overlander Roadhouse and north of Billabong Roadhouse in parts of HAMELIN POOL, COBURN and MEADOW in the SHIRE OF SHARK BAY.

The alert level for this fire has been upgraded as fire activity has increased.

WHAT TO DO

If you have left the area, it is unsafe to return.

If you have remained in the area, stay alert and monitor your surroundings as conditions could change.

If you are actively defending your property, continue to patrol and put out spot fires.

Keep doors and windows closed, and evaporative air conditioners turned off with water running through the system if possible.

Be patient and follow the directions of emergency services.

Bushfire behaviour

There are multiple fires burning in the area moving in a northerly easterly direction.

The fires are not contained or controlled.

Road closures and conditions

North West Coastal Highway has closed again between the Overlander Roadhouse and Billabong Roadhouse.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area, reduce speed and drive carefully. Road information may also be available from Main Roads WA by visiting the Main Roads Travel Map, calling 138 138 or by contacting your Local Government Authority.

What firefighters are doing

Firefighters are actively fighting the fire and strengthening containment lines.

Bush Fire Brigade, Volunteer Fire and Rescue Service, and Volunteer Fire and Emergency Service are attending.

Personnel from Strandline Resources are supporting firefighting efforts in the area.

Animal Welfare

Owners or carers of livestock, pets and companion animals should activate their own animal welfare plan. During a bushfire take advice from Local Government Authorities to protect the lives of your animals while keeping yourself safe.
