Bushfire Watch and Act - in an area bound by Haddrill Road, Weir
Road and Koonac Crest to the north, Red Hill Quarry to the east and
Campersic Road to the west and a line from the intersection of
Campersic and Stock roads to Toodyay Road to the south in parts of
RED HILL, MILLENDON, HERNE HILL and BASKERVILLE in the CITY OF
SWAN

Bushfire WATCH AND ACT for parts of RED HILL, MILLENDON, HERNE
HILL and BASKERVILLE in the CITY OF SWAN
A bushfire WATCH AND ACT is in place for people in an area bound
by Haddrill Road, Weir Road and Koonac Crest to the north, Red Hill
Quarry to the east and Campersic Road to the west and a line from
the intersection of Campersic and Stock roads to Toodyay Road to
the south in parts of RED HILL, MILLENDON, HERNE HILL and
BASKERVILLE in the CITY OF SWAN.
There is a possible threat to lives and homes as a fire is burning
in the area.
The fire remains at a Watch and Act level due to active fire
within the containment lines and unfavourable forecast
weather.
WHAT TO DO
Stay alert and monitor your surroundings as conditions could
change.
If you are actively defending your property, continue to patrol
and put out spot fires.
Keep doors and windows closed, and evaporative air conditioners
turned off with water running through the system if possible.
Be patient and follow the directions of emergency services
personnel.
Bushfire ADVICE for parts of GIDGEGANNUP, RED HILL, BASKERVILLE,
BRIGADOON, HERNE HILL and MILLENDON in the CITY OF SWAN
A bushfire ADVICE is in place for people in an area bound by
Cathedral Avenue, Campersic Road, Barcelona Drive, Burgess Road,
Toodyay Road, Neuman Road, Oakover Road and Great Northern Highway
in parts of GIDGEGANNUP, RED HILL, BASKERVILLE, BRIGADOON, HERNE
HILL and MILLENDON in the CITY OF SWAN.
Although there is no immediate danger you need to be aware and
keep up to date in case the situation changes.
WHAT TO DO
Stay alert and monitor your surroundings.
Watch for signs of a bushfire, especially smoke and flames.
Close all doors and windows, and turn off evaporative air
conditioners but keep water running through the system if
possible.
Read through your bushfire survival plan.
If you do not have a plan, decide what you will do if the
situation gets worse. You can make a plan by visiting My Bushfire
Plan.
If driving:
Be extremely careful when driving through the area.
Turn your headlights on and drive slowly.
Watch for emergency services personnel and follow their
directions.
BUSHFIRE BEHAVIOUR
The bushfire is stationary.
It is contained and under control.
Whilst the smoke has reduced, there is still some smoke in the
vicinity of this fire.
ROAD CLOSURES AND CONDITIONS
Avoid the area and be aware of fire and emergency services
personnel working on site.
A number of roads will remain closed. All roads to the east of
Campersic Road will remain closed until hazardous tree work, site
inspections and risk assessments have been undertaken. This
includes:
Range Road
Macham Road
Cymosa Street
Hardwick Road, east of Campersic Road
William Street, east of Campersic Road
Padbury Avenue, east of Campersic Road
Loton Road, east of Campersic Road
The following road has been reopened with speed
restrictions:
Campersic Road with a 60 km/h speed restriction
Please be vigilant of emergency service personnel in the area and
exercise extreme caution whilst travelling on Toodyay Road in both
directions between Red Hill and Gidgegannup.
Motorists are asked to avoid the area, reduce speed and drive
carefully due to smoke. Road information may also be available from
Main Roads WA by visiting the Main Roads Travel Map, calling 138
138 or by contacting your Local Government Authority.
ANIMAL WELFARE
Owners or carers of livestock, pets and companion animals should
activate their own animal welfare plan. During a bushfire take
advice from Local Government Authorities to protect the lives of
your animals while keeping yourself safe.

WHAT FIREFIGHTERS ARE DOING
Firefighters are on the scene and are strengthening containment
lines.
80 Career Fire and Rescue Service, Volunteer Fire and Rescue
Service, Bush Fire Service, Volunteer Fire and Emergency Services
and Parks and Wildlife Service firefighters are attending.
Aerial support has been sent to assist ground crews.
State Emergency Service Volunteers, Department of Biodiversity,
Conservation and Attractions, City of Swan and Department of Fire
and Emergency Service staff are also in attendance.
DRONES AND AERIAL SUPPORT
Never fly a drone, model aircraft or multirotor near bushfires.
Doing so poses a major safety risk to firefighting personnel in the
air and on the ground, and forces aircraft to be grounded or
redirected, hindering firefighting efforts.
EXTRA INFORMATION
The fire was reported at 12:39 PM on 19 March 2024.
Currently there has been approximately 690 hectares burnt.
DFES is managing the fire.
