FLOODING POSSIBLE IN THE TANAMI DESERT, STURT CREEK DISTRICT, EAST
KIMBERLEY, NORTH KIMBERLEY, WEST KIMBERLEY AND THE FITZROY RIVER
CATCHMENT FROM WEDNESDAY
A tropical low currently located in the Northern Territory is
likely to move west from Wednesday into Western Australia, bringing
widespread rainfall, with heavy falls possible in parts of the
Flood Watch area. Uncertainties remain over the movement of the
tropical low and the exact areas receiving the heaviest rainfall.
Flooding is likely to develop from Wednesday.
Catchments are moderately wet in the Flood Watch area after recent
rainfall.
River level rises, localised flooding, and overland inundation are
possible in parts of the Flood Watch area, which may affect road
access. Some communities may become isolated. Check road conditions
before travelling.
Catchments likely to be affected include:
Fitzroy River
West Kimberley Rivers
North Kimberley Rivers
(rainfall expected in the southern parts)
East Kimberley Rivers
(including the Ord Basin)
Sturt Creek District
Tanami Desert
(rainfall expected in northern parts of the Desert)
